| On
Sunday 20th May the Woodberry welcomed back Steve
Swinnerton. On his last visit to the Woodberry
he was accompanied by his brother Jim and they
sang a variety of covers to a full packed house.
This time round Steve was alone as his brother
is touring Australia. Once more it was a full
house as Steve took to the stage for his solo
debut. With a touch of nerves he opened with the
Stereophonics classic 'Have A Nice Day'. This
was to be followed with tracks by the likes of
REM, Paul Simon and even an Elton John track.
The night was a success for the crowds who had
come to see Steve and I am sure with his following
he will soon pack the Woodberry again. |
| Back
by popular demand is a long standing saying in
the entertainment business, but sure enough Steve
was back within a week at the Woodberry. This
time it was a Saturday night, and true to form
it was a Swinnerton packed night. Simular play
list but the audience loved it this man is a person
to watch and sure to pack local pubs with a big
following. |
|
| With
a happy man who likes his local, and is still
early in development in the Bridgnorth Gig guide
I apologise in advance the next review is again
from the Woodberry. So I do ask if you have a
review please submit it |

| Sunday
28th May it's Woodberry time and the entertainment
for tonight is Mirage. Veteran gig followers will
know this man better as Ricky. |
Despite
a quiet start in the Woodberry the gig started
at 9.15 and instantly the audience knew this
was a man who knew what vocals were all about.
With a first half set including Amarillo, Buttercup
and Under My Skin the audience built up and
suddenly a quiet night was a busy and active
one. Let me tell you now this man reminds me
of the late ' Freddie Mercury' not in vocals...
please. But he has that forte of getting the
audience in the palm of his hand, he is definitely
an audience active man. His repertoire may not
be modern but believe me he packs a punch. Having
never seen Mirage (or Ricky) before I would
ask does the 'Ricky' bit come from the following
of the once infamous Ricky Martin, if so maybe
the name change is for the best because he is
far better than that, if not I apologise. |
| I
must say despite my praise of the first set the
return for the second was better. He definitely
believes in customer satisfaction, this is not
a performer who sings what he wants to, or keeps
a fixed set, this man gives you what the audience
wants. Audience participation was a big part of
the second set, and the audience loved him. If
you get the chance to see him it will be a great
night, if you can book him do, but this man has
a well packed diary. |
